Can I Carry 3 Bikes on a 2008 Audi A4 Avant

Question:

I need to have a 3 bikes hitch rack on my 2008 Audi A4 avant. I currently have a dealer installed hitch 1.25, which I assume is class I. Can I find a hitch bike rack, that carries 3 bikes, to go on it? If not, does a class II hitch exist for the 2008 Audi A4? thanks.

There are some 3 bike hitch racks that will fit a 1-1/4 inch and 2 inch hitch, but the 3 bike racks that will fit on a Class I 1-1/4 inch hitch are limited to a 2 bike capacity only.

The only hitch I have that will fit your 2008 Audi A4 Avant is the Curt Class I 1-1/4 Inch Hitch, part # 11180. I do not have a Class II hitch available for a 2008 Audi A4 Avant.

I would recommend to use a trunk mounted 3 bike rack for your Audi Avant. Thule does offer two trunk mounted 3 bike racks for your vehicle. The Thule OutWay 3 Bike Rack, part # TH56BV will fit and the Thule Passage 3 Bike Rack, part # TH911XT. They both have a weight capacity of 99 lbs. If your vehicle has a rear wiper then it will not be able to be used with a trunk mounted bike rack installed. 3 bike racks will be limited to two bikes on a class I hitch, so you may want to consider just a 2 bike rack like # TH9024XT.

If you are going to be carrying women's or children's bikes that do not have the horizontal bar at the top of the frame, you will want to use the Thule Bike Adapter Bar, part # TH982XT. It attaches to the center seat post and to the handlebar post and provides a horizontal bar, so the bike can ride level on the bike rack.
