The Replacement Ball-Plate Assembly # RP58062 referenced in your question is exactly what you need to replace the plate on your Reese or Pro Series friction sway control system.
I spoke with my contact at Reese and he stated the most common cause for the plate assembly to break or snap off is a jackknifing situation when backing up. With a friction sway control system installed, you will want to remove the arm before backing up. If properly installed, the ball plate will not have any issues when driving forward.
