Recommended Socket Size to Install the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13175 on 2016 Chevy Silverado

Question:

hey guys just received curt receiver no. C13175 for installation on a 2016 chevy Silverado. Installation video for the 2016 refers to the existing bolts that will be removed and reused as 21mm. The printed installation instructions refer these as 22mm. Could you please clarify. Ill have to buy a socket to fit either one and you can possibly save me an extra trip to the store! Thanks very much for your help in this minor issue.

It is possible that the manufacturer uses different size hardware based on model year and even sometimes within the same model year. I can confirm that the video (attached) clearly shows the 21 mm on the socket itself so I can confirm that is not only what was said, but is also what was the correct fit for that particular vehicle. I'd get both sockets to be safe because the the 22mm socket referenced the installation instructions will fit the hardware that will come with the hitch. You may very likely need both sockets, one for the existing hardware on the vehicle and one for the new hardware that comes with the hitch. Hopefully that will save you a second trip to the store.
