What is the Best Way to Find the Stop Light Wire for a Brake Controller on a 2011 Toyota Sienna
Question:
I have a couple follow up question to the instructions and video on how to install the ETBC7 kit on my 2011 Toyota Sienna. Can you confirm what color wire from the brake switch to connect the controller to? Unfortunately I do not know how to use my multimeter to test the wire. I found this link that says its Blue. Also, where does the purple wire on the 7pin harness get connected? Thanks

Using a multimeter can be tricky sometimes, which is why we recommend using a circuit tester like # PTW2993. This tester has a light in it and lights up when voltage is detected. I cannot verify the specific color for the brake switch wire you need. Wiring colors change frequently, and I would not want to give you false information. Testing the wires with a circuit tester is the only sure way to know.
When you do test the wires, make sure you find the one that shows a signal only when the brake pedal is pressed. If it shows a signal when the head lights are on or when the turn signals are engaged, it is not the correct wire.
The purple wire on the 7- and 4-Way installation Kit, # ETBC7, is for the reverse lights on the trailer (if the trailer has reverse lights). It will connect to a reverse light wire behind one of the vehicle reverse lights. If it is not needed, it can be taped up and stowed out of the way.
