Hitch, Wiring and Ball Mount Kit for 2007 Chevrolet Uplander Towing Multiple Trailers

Question:

I have a 2007 Chevy Uplander LT extended. Which is the better hitch to install? Drawtite or Curt? I am looking for a class III 2, best rated, easiest to install. I plan to tow a small utility trailer, small fishing boat and use it for a bike rack. According to the dealer and researching my VIN, I already have an transmission cooler but dont have the towing package. Also need the 4 prong flat plug wiring accessory.

If your 2007 Chevrolet Uplander has the 121-inch wheel base then the easiest hitch install will come with the Curt 2-inch Class III hitch # 13336 since this option is a no-drill install. This hitch and the 1-1/4-inch Curt # C12336 are the only such no-drill hitches offered. If your Uplander does not have this 121-inch wheel base then the option I suggest is the Draw-Tite # 75278 which does require drilling but costs less than others.

Written instructions for all referenced hitches are linked for you along with a helpful article with tips for an easier hitch install.

For 4-pole wiring to power basic trailer lighting functions we offer an easy-install plug-and-play harness from Tekonsha, part # 118396. Installation consists of plugging in the connectors at the Uplander's tail light assemblies and connecting one single ground wire to a bare metal surface.

This type of harness does NOT carry brake signals for a trailer that needs them. If either trailer has electric brakes you will also need, in addition to the 4-pole kit, a trailer brake controller like the Prodigy P2 # 90885 and the installation kit # ETBC7.

Since you have multiple trailers to tow I recommend also using our 2-ball Ball Mount Kit # EBMK4 which allows for flexibility in towing trailer with different coupler sizes, both 1-7/8-inch and 2-inch. The included ball mount can be used in either position for 2-3/4-inches of rise or 4-inches of drop, as shown in the linked review video.
