Can Hollywood Rack be Used on Dirt Roads?
Question:
We destroyed another brand trying to carry 4 bikes on a not too bad 4wd road, then found that the guarantee for that brand excluded any dirt road which seems a bit restrictive. Does anyone have experience with Sport Rider SE4 on intermediate level four wheel drive roads?

Thanks for the photo, that's quite the road you're traveling there. As for the Hollywood Sport Rider # HR1400Z there is not any specific information as to using it on this type of dirt road and extremely rough terrain is going to be a burden on any bike rack. That said, there are a few steps you can take which will help ease that burden, and there are a few things about the Hollywood which should hep it stand up to using it off-road.
One aspect of the Sport Rider # HR1400Z that has been obvious to our customers is how sturdy it is. If you take a look at the "Reviews" section of this bike on our site you'll notice that is mentioned quite a bit. The reason for that is the Hollywood is made of steel and has an anti-wobble handle on the front of the unit.
It comes with a hitch lock and cable lock, but to keep the rack even tighter, there are a couple things I highly recommend doing. By using both the Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock # 63232 and Curt Support Strap - Bike Rack Strap # 18050, you will be able to maximize the stabilization of the rack when using it.
I've added a link to a video showing you how the support strap is used, as well as links to video reviews of the Sport Rider and hitch lock for you to take a look at.
