Dimensions of Yakima Skybox # Y07334
Question:
1. How many inches doe the lid open? Can a 22x11inch deep suitcase fit in the opening? 2. If the width of the box is 24, what is the interior width inside the sliding tie down tracks on each side? Depending upon where the tie down clamps are attached to the roof bars, one may not be able to put a suitcase on the sliding tracks, correct? 3. Is the height is 16inch and the roof is sloped on the sides, what is the width inside where the height is actually 16? What is the height on the outer edges of the box? The Yakima SkyBox 12 Rooftop Cargo Box - 12 cu ft - Black Carbonite # Y07334 is a very nice roof box. The lid opens for an 11 inch gap so your 22x11 suitcase will fit. The interior width between the mounting tracks is 12-1/2 inches and the suitcase can rest on the mounts as long as there is enough clearance to close the box. The exterior height is 16 inches and the interior height is just shy of that at about 15-3/4. The inside gives you about another inch and the contour gives you close to the 23-3/4 inches for almost the full 15-3/4 inch height. From the base to the lower lip outer edge of the box it is 6 inches when closed.
I confirmed these measurements with my contact at Yakima and also that your 22x11 inch suitcase will fit.
