What is Needed to Wire a 2011 Toyota Tacoma with a 4-Way for a Brake Controller

Question:

I just purchased a new 2011 Toyota Tacoma. It has a towing option and a 4 way connector. I want to move my Prodigy brake controller to it from another vehicle which uses a Curt 7 way connector. Im not certain which of your wiring harnesses/adapters I need. Can you help? Thanks!

In order to convert the 4-Way on your 2011 Toyota Tacoma to a 7-Way that will work with your Prodigy brake controller, you are going to need to install a brake controller installation kit # ETBC.

I attached installation instructions for this product as well a video of this product being installed on a 2002 Toyota Tundra that will be similar to the process on your 2011 model vehicle.

If your truck came with a factory 7-Way at the rear of the vehicle, you could have used a plug-in brake control wiring adapter # 3040-P, but since you only have a 4-Way this product would not work for you.
