Weight Distribution Recommendation for a 2009 GMC Savana Van Towing a 6,320-Lb Travel Trailer
Question:
I have a 2009 GMC Savana conversion van that I want to pull a 2005 Couchmen Capri Ruby Edition 27D travel trailer with. What weight distribution with or without sway control would you recommend? Trailer GTW 6320 TW 620

The Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution System with Sway Control, part # BXW0750 is a excellent choice for your 6,320-lb trailer with a tongue weight rating of 620 lbs. It uses the new, rotating-latch brackets called SwayPro. With the SwayPro design all you have to do is insert the spring bar lift chain into the bracket slot and rotate the bracket with the included wrench until the lock pin engages. Other weight distribution systems use the snap-up brackets that require more leverage to get the chains locked in.
Another recommendation would be the Reese Strait-Line Weight Distribution System with Sway Control, part # RP66083. This weight distribution system has a tongue weight range of 400 to 800 lbs.
It uses the dual-cam sway control system. This sway control will actually stop sway before it begins. During normal straight-line towing, the cams lock in place and hold the trailer steady by applying constant, consistent pressure to both sides. This keeps the trailer from swaying in crosswinds. When you go into a turn, the cams unlock and slide to allow a controlled, full-radius maneuver. If you swerve suddenly, the cams will give to accommodate the movement while still working to obtain a straight angle, thereby maintaining control of the trailer.
Both weight distribution systems will include everything you need except for the hitch ball. They require a hitch ball with a 1-1/4 inch shank. If you need a 2 inch hitch ball I would recommend the Curt 2 Inch Hitch Ball, part # A-90. The 2-5/16 inch hitch ball would be the Tow Ready 2-5/16 Inch Hitch Ball, part # 19286.
I am including a link to the instructions on the Reese weight distribution system and a link to a FAQ page on weight distribution.
