How to Know which Side of the Trailer a Drum Brake Assembly Should Install
Question:
I am installing 10inch brake assembly on my Master Tow Dolly. The flanges are rotated 45 degrees so I cannot mount the brake assembly with the adjuster mechanism on the bottom. Which direction should I rotate the assembly to match the mounting holes? Would that be with the adjusting mechanism toward the rear or front?

Expert Reply:
The actuating arm (the bracket that the brake magnet attaches to), should go in front of the spindle in relation to the forward direction of the trailer. Another way to look at is that the arm is the front of an "arrow," and it always points towards the front of the trailer. See picture for further explanation.
