How to Properly Install the Curt Converter and 4-Pole Flat Connector C59236 on a 2017 Chevy Bolt EV

Question:

C59236 web page for a Bolt says to consult installation instructions to locate wires to tap into but that doesnt help on a Bolt. The brake and tail lights are in the lift-gate. Two wrapped bundles of wires come out of the roof liner and into the top of the lift-gate. Any guidance on where to tap into and how to route the wire? Could find no youtube video for that.

To install the Curt Powered Taillight Converter with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C59236 on your 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV you will need to use a Circuit Tester # PTW2992. You will want to probe the wires while different light functions are activated so that you can properly wire the harness.

The unfortunate thing is that even if your Chevy Bolt had a typical wire color to function diagram the reality is that sometimes the manufacturers don't use the same color wiring for their vehicles. Using a circuit tester is the best way to accurately install this wiring kit on your Bolt EV.
