Locating Stop Light Switch on 1999 Chevy Silverado to Install Trailer Brake Controller
Question:
Would you point me in the right direction for the proper stop light switch wire to connect the P3 to for a 1999 Silverado 1500

Based on my research, it appears the correct brake light switch wire at the brake pedal on your 1999 Chevy Silverado should be white in color. However, I still recommend testing the wires on your truck with a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to ensure that this is correct. You are looking for the wire that only receives power when the brake pedal is depressed and no power during any other function.
For your 1999 Chevy Silverado 1500, we do also have a Plug-In Adapter with part # 3025-P that will make installing the Tekonsha Prodigy Trailer Brake Controller # 90195 much easier. This custom-fit adapter will plug into the brake controller itself on one end and to the built-in port beneath the dash of your Silverado at the other end.
If your Silverado did not come with the factory 7-Way connector, you will also need to install the Pollak 7-Pole # PK11898 to complete the wiring. If the truck has a round plug with a cap instead of a bundle of wires above the spare tire, you will use # 30955 instead.
I have attached the installation instructions on these products along with an article that further details the installation process on your Silverado that you can refer to.
