Thule Easyline Trailer # TP125 Recommendation for Transporting a Wheelchair
Question:
I have a 2011 Honda Insight. Can I carry a wheelchair and lift that weight about 315 lbs using the hitch recommended for this car if I get the square 2 tube attachment? Or is the tongue weight going to ruin my car? Suggestions? Thank you.

I do have an option for you, but the tongue weight capacity for this Curt Trailer Hitch # 11051 is 200 lbs, and since your wheelchair and lift weigh about 315 lbs I would strongly recommend that you do not attempt to transport your wheelchair this way. You would most likely damage the hitch and/or the vehicle frame of your 2011 Honda Insight.
Especially if you were to use a 2 inch adapter, as hitch adapters and extenders cut the tongue weight capacity of the hitch in half when used. I attached an FAQ article on hitch adapters and extenders for you to check out.
Due to the hitch options available for your Insight your best bet may be to get a small trailer like a Wheelchair Trailer, # TLK864, to transport the wheelchair.
