Starting with the trailer brake controller itself, the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 # 90885 that you referenced is an excellent choice for your 2015 Chevy Silverado 1500. This is one of the best controllers on the market and it will do a great job of activating the brakes on your trailer at the same time and with the same intensity that you apply to them in your Silverado. It features an easy-to-read digital display and continuous diagnostics that will alert you to any potential issues. The unit is well known for its reliability and ease of installation.
Then for a custom plug-in harness, you will just need part # 3016. One end of the adapter will connect to the brake controller itself and the other end will plug directly into the built-in harness beneath the truck's dash. This is all that you need to do to install the P2 to your Silverado, so you will not need to splice any wires.
I have attached the written installation instructions and an installation video that you can also use for reference.
