5th Wheel to Gooseneck Adapter for a 1996 Dodge Ram Pickup with Trailair 5th Wheel Pin Box
Question:
Can I use a 5th wheel gooseneck adaptor with a Trail air ride hitch? The tongue weight is rated at 1760 lbs, 40foot Forest River 377CK and 96 Dodge Ram 1 ton short box which has a gooseneck ball installed.

The only way to haul a 5th wheel trailer with the gooseneck hitch on your 1996 Dodge Ram would be to install a Reese Goose Box 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Air Ride Coupler Adapter. None of our 5th wheel to gooseneck adapters like the Convert-A-Ball Cushioned 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Adapter part # CAB-C5G are compatible with pin boxes that have airbags like your Trailair Air Ride 5th Wheel Pin Box. In order to see if we have the correct Reese Goose Box for you I would need to know the model number of the pin box you currently have installed.
The other option I have for you would be to add a 5th wheel hitch. This would likely require you to remove your existing gooseneck hitch in order to do so. If you do choose to remove the gooseneck hitch on your truck then I recommend taking a look at the Pro Series 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Square Tube Slider part # PS30121 in addition to the Reese Universal Base Rails and Installation Kit for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches part # RP30035.
If you would like to have both 5th wheel and gooseneck trailer hitches than your only option would be to use the B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider part # BWRVK3400-5W with the Custom Underbed Installation Kit for B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches part # BWGNRK1394-5W. The B&W hitches are one of the most highly regarded trailer hitches on the market. They are also made and manufactured right here in the U.S.A.
I have attached a review video for each of these options.
