Recommended Tire Chains for 2014 Chevy Silverado 1500
Question:
Hello. I have a 2014 Silverado 1500 4x4 with an additional 2inch suspension for leveling extra wheel well space. I was recently in the mountains hunting when a heavy storm 12-18inch of snow brought our fun to a halt. I found myself needing chains on 4 tires to handle the snow and soft mud below as well as hard Ice Pack on trails and roads already driven on. Id like to get 2 different types of chains that can be used in the different situations individually and also combined when needed when gravity starts to pull the vehicle off the hill. Talk about but puckering. Tire size is 265/65 R18. Can you help me out with your recommendations. I have ideas already in my head, but you are the experts. Best Aaron

According to the owner's manual of the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, you would not be able to use chains on your size tires due to clearance issues, but you would be able to use other traction devices which should be placed on the rear wheels. The owner's manual does not specify whether or not the cable-style device constitute "chains" so I recommend contacting your Chevy dealer to ensure you can use cables on your tires or not.
If you can, there are two options available for you, each of which are Class S compatible for vehicles with limited clearance. For use in light snow, the Titan # TC747DC are cable chains with a diagonal pattern and increased traction during turns. The Glacier # PW2028C, meanwhile, are better for more occasional use and have a ladder pattern for traction. I've added a link to a video review of these chains for you to take a look at.
