Recommended Tire Chains for 2016 GMC Terrain

Question:

Hello, I have a 2016 GMC Terrain SLT with tire size 235/55-18. The manufacturer says that there shouldnt be any chains placed on the vehicle, but I will be driving up to Tahoe and they are in some instances depending on weather required by law. I found the Konig Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - D Link - XG12 Pro - Size 245 on your site and it says it should fit the car. My question is, if I use these, will I run the chance of damaging the car? Have these been tested on the Terrain with success? I appreciate your help. Thank you.

The Konig Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern part # TH01594245 will fit the 235/55-18 tires on your 2016 GMC Terrain. When we installed them on a 2017 GMC Terrain we did not have any problems with them damaging the vehicle (see video). However, I cannot advise you use them as your owners manual says not to.

If you are looking for a traction device that is compliant with your owner manual, I recommend using the Glacier Cable Snow Tire Chains part # PW1046. Should you choose to use the cables then you will also want to consider a set of rubber adjusters like the Glacier Multi-Arm Rubber Adjusters part # PW105.

I have attached a review video of both traction devices for you.
