Recommended System to Flat Tow a 2017 Jeep Wrangler Sport

Question:

Good afternoon. I have just purchased my first RV 2017 Gulf Stream Conquest Class C 6317D and a 2017 Jeep Wrangler Sport to flat tow with it. I know I need a base plate, tow bar, supplemental brakes and a light wiring kit, but Im not sure if that is everything. Am I missing anything? What would you recommend for lights? And which brake system is safer? The portable or the one-time install systems? Any advice is much appreciated.

For your 2017 Jeep Wrangler Sport, I recommend you start with the Demco Tabless Base Plate Kit # DM9519292. Then I recommend using the Demco Commander II Non-Binding Tow Bar # DM9511012. I like the Demco products because of the independent arms that make it easier to hook up. Their tow bars also include a rise or drop which can eliminate the need for a high-low adapter.

For your wiring, I recommend the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267 which will allow you to use your factory wiring, have a clean connection on the front of your Jeep, and still have your wiring capable of towing behind your Jeep when it isn't being towed.

For your braking, I recommend the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System - Proportional # SM99251. This is a one time install and then becomes plug and play. It is far easier to use than carrying around a braking system to place on the floorboard each time, and is extremely reliable. It is our installation team's favorite system.

The last thing you may need is a high-low adapter. I've attached a link and an article to ensure you get the correct part for your Gulf Stream and your Jeep. Like I said earlier, the tow bar may help with this.
