Parts Needed to Install Trailer Brake Controller and 7-Way Trailer Connector on 2017 Subaru Outback
Question:
Can I fit a 7 pin round connector to my 2017 Outback? I currently have a flat 4 pin connected to the wiring harness, but the trailer Im getting will have an aux brake module. Also, can I maintain a 12v trailer battery with the power lead on the 7 pin while also running a aux brake module on the trailer?

Yes, you can install a 7-way blade-style trailer socket on your 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon that will be able to provide basic trailer lighting signals, power for trailer brakes and 12V auxiliary power to maintain a trailer-mounted battery.
Since you already have a 4-pole flat wiring harness on the car all you will need is a trailer brake controller like the easy-to-use and reliable Prodigy P2 # 90885 and our installation kit # ETBC7, which includes all parts required to install both the brake controller and the 7-way.
I linked for you both a video and article covering the installation process. I also included an article that details all the types of trailer wiring, for your reference.
