Recommended Brake Assemblies for Older 20 Foot Tandem Axle Trailer at Least 10,000 lb Capacity
Question:
I just discovered that my trailer brake, left hand, came apart with lots of pieces. Trailer is an older model, 20foot long, tandem axle. I am not sure of the load capacity. I cannot find any tags, or labels, anywhere on the trailer. Need to know what brake assembly I can use. Can send pictures, if itll help. Looking at replacing the leaf springs also. Need the trailer to handle at least 10,000lbs. Thanks

For your tandem axle trailer with a weight capacity of at least 10K, I recommend the Electric Trailer Brake Kit - Self-Adjusting - 12" - Left and Right Hand Assemblies - 5.2K to 7K # AKEBRK-7-SA. These brake assemblies are 12x2 inches and are compatible with wheels up to 16-1/2 inches. These brakes are self-adjusting so after the initial install, they will automatically adjust to give you the best braking function.
To help you with your leaf springs, I have linked the page to all of your options. If you have double eye springs you will want to measure from the center of bolt hole to center of bolt hole and then base it on capacity needed. If you have slipper springs, you will need to know the length and the width of the spring along with capacity needed. I'm happy to assist if you can provide these measurements.
