Recommended Trailer Hitch for 2008 Nissan Rogue to Tow ATV Trailer
Question:
Hello. Looking to get a trailer hitch for my 2008 Nissan Rogue. Ive seen various videos and reviews on your website, but I want to be sure I get the correct tongue weight hitch. I plan on towing a single-axle single ATV trailer that I can haul my 600lb Honda ATV on. Would a 350lb tongue weight be fine, such as this: Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2inch Item # 75902 Thank you very much.

The Draw-Tite Class III Max Frame Receiver Hitch # 75902 referenced in your question is a great choice and is confirmed to fit your 2008 Nissan Rogue. This Class III hitch is custom-fit for your vehicle so it will use existing holes in the Rogue's frame for a no-drill installation. The hitch itself has a tongue weight capacity of 350 pounds, which should be more than enough for your single ATV trailer.
With that being said, I took a look at the online owner's manual for your Nissan Rogue and found that the vehicle's tongue weight capacity is 150 pounds. Keep in mind that a towing setup is always going to be limited by its weakest component. This means that even though the hitch might be rated for much more, you will still need to stay under the vehicle's 150 pound tongue weight capacity. Depending on the combined weight of your trailer and ATV, you still might be able to stay within this limit, but you will want to confirm this. I recommend using a tongue weight scale like the etrailer # e99044. A trailer's tongue weight should be around 10 to 15 percent of its total weight.
To tow a trailer, you will also need to install a connector at the rear of the vehicle to connect with and power the trailer's signal lights. I recommend the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118480. This custom-fit harness will connect directly to built-in ports located behind the trim panels in the cargo area on your Nissan Rogue.
You will also need a ball mount. I have attached an article that explains how to choose the best one to tow your trailer level, along with a link that will take you to our available selection.
