Will Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Air Helper Springs Increase Axle Capacity?
Question:
I bought and installed the Air Springs on my 2016 RAM 2500. Everything works well. My question is about rear axle capacity. The GAWR is 6000 lbs and when I weighed the truck with my 5th wheel camper the reading for the real axle is 6,840 pounds. How much will the Air Springs increase the axle capacity? My mechanic says it will add 5,000 pounds if they are inflated fully. Is that correct? I expect to add more weight to the RV and want to make sure I dont damage the truck suspension.

Expert Reply:
The Air Lift Loadlifter 5000 Air Helper Springs # AL57289 on your 2016 Ram 2500 (or any other suspension enhancement systems) will not increase your payload or axle capacity. The suspension enhancements like this are only intended to help support your load up to 5000 lbs for leveling. Your axle rating of 6,840 lbs will be the max capacity. These helper springs will extend the life of your current suspension, but does not increase weight.
