Recommended Trunk-Mount Bike Rack for 2016 Ford Edge
Question:
What’s the best rack for this model car? Wanted a roof rack - but just can’t afford it right now

We offer trunk-mount bike racks for your 2016 Ford Edge in 1, 2 and 3-bike capacities that you can see on the linked page. A few of these, like the Yakima FullBack 2- and 3-bike racks, include locks for both the bikes and for the rack itself.
If your Edge has a roofline spoiler (or not) I suggest the FullBack 2 # Y02634 or the 3-bike model # Y02633. I linked an article that will help you select the best trunk rack to match your specific type of bikes as well as one that explains the various advantages of each rack type. You can also check out the videos on each rack page to see how they install.
If within your budget you might want to consider installing a hitch like # 75234 to enable using a hitch-mount bike rack. This will spare your Edge the weight of the bikes and rack sitting on the rear hatch and it will also let you use other hitch-mount carriers, such as a cargo carrier like # C18153. Hitch racks use the car's frame - its strongest part - to handle the weight of the bikes and a rack like the Thule Hitching Post Pro # TH934XTR.
In terms of weight capacity and minimum risk to the car the hitch racks are generally the best option.
