Do Reese Fifth Wheel Hitches for 2017 Ford F-350 Work well With Sidewinder
Question:
We are contemplating buying a 5th wheel. We want to swap out the current pin box to a sidewinder or sidewinder airborne. We have a 2017 F250. What hitch would be most compatible with the sidewinder? Our dealer has suggested the Brophy. We have never heard of that brand. Any suggestions? They say the Reese hitches are not compatible due to the wedge.

Expert Reply:
Reese hitches are actually made by the same company as Sidewinder so they work really well together. Every fifth wheel application though benefits from a custom wedge since it makes the Sidewinder fit better to the hitch.
I recommend the Reese # RP30928 along with the rail kit # RP50074-58 which is a confirmed fit for your 2017 Ford F-350. You'll also need the Reese Wedge Kit # RP44FR to prevent the king pin from pivoting in the jaws of your hitch.
