The Draw-Tite 2-inch Class III hitch part # 76217 is a confirmed fit on your 2018 Chevrolet Equinox that has the diesel engine option. My contact there indicated no known installation issues mounting this hitch on your car.
Linked for you are the written installation instructions that detail the tools needed and the complete process to mount it using the included hardware. A video and help article are also linked for reference.
If towing is in your plans you will also need wiring and a few other components. For a 4-pole wiring harness use part # 118750 if you do not have the factory tow package; if you do then instead use kit # C94FR. If you want a towing kit that provides flexibility to handle different trailers you might like the Ball Mount Kit # 989900. This has 2 ball mounts and 2 hitch balls along with a pin/clip in a handy storage bag.
