Recommended Camper Tie-Downs for 1997 Toyota Tacoma

Question:

Hello, I am searching for a front camper tie down anchor solution for my 1997 toyota tacoma and a light 900 lb camper. Will the TorkLift Custom Frame-Mounted Camper Tie-Downs TLT2306 work with my vehicle? Do you have another suggestion? Thanks!

I do have a solution for you, however the TorkLift Custom Frame-Mounted Camper Tie-Downs # TLT2306 referenced in your question are designed for later model year Toyota Tacomas and will not fit your 1997 Tacoma. There are not any custom-fit camper tie downs available that are confirmed to fit your truck.

For your 1997 Toyota Tacoma, I instead recommend looking at clamp on tie-downs like the Brophy # HSSF. These tie-downs are designed to fit the bed side rails on most trucks and will provide durable attachment points for securing your camper to your truck bed. Just note that the external bed rail width on your truck cannot exceed 5-1/2 inches and they require at least 2 inches of space beneath the lip of the bed rail. I have included an image that clarifies this dimension.

I recommend adding the Brophy Basic Turnbuckles w/ Hardware # TDHP to secure the camper to to the tie-downs.

I have attached a video demonstration and the installation details on this system that you can also check out.
