Can Slider Be Always Used with Maximum Space Between Cab and Trailer?

Can my Reese 5th wheel square tube quick slide be adjusted to always give the maximum space between the cab and trailer?

The Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Square Tube Slider - Dual Jaw - 16,000 lbs # RP30051 and other sliders like it cannot always be locked in the turning position. The towing position closest to your truck cab is required to put the weight in the proper location when towing and the other locking position for turning is only to provide the turning clearance when needed by shifting all that trailer weight back and behind the axle. This is not safe for travel as it could take too much weight off the front axle which would cause braking and handling problems.
If you want a hitch that will automatically adjust for you so you don't need to get in and out of your truck to lock the hitch in the proper position, then I recommend the Demco Hijacker Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider - Single Jaw - Above Bed - 18,000 lbs # DM8550034 or 21K # DM8550035.
