Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2005 Ford Escape
Question:
What type of trailer hitches are compatible with 2005 Ford Escape. I only do light hauling, do I have to go with a frame mount hitch.? Please tell me my options

All of the trailer hitches we offer are designed to attach to the frame of your 2005 Ford Escape. The best one for light towing is the etrailer hitch part # e56AR which is a confirmed fit and has a 2-inch opening. This size is the best option as it has the best towing capacities and the most options for it when picking out ball mounts and other hitch accessories.
For trailer wiring you'd then want the part # 118426 which is a confirmed fit.
Since you wanted to do some towing you might be interested in etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.
If the ball mount kit does not include a ball mount with the right rise or drop to tow the trailer level, check out the link I have included that explains how to measure to choose a ball mount to tow the trailer level.
