Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator Recommendation for Trailer with Hydraulic Disc Brakes

Question:

We currently have a 36 foot try axle boat trailer with hydraulic disc brakes. Considering upgrading to electric brakes since the boat I am towing is 13,000 pounds. Are electric brakes compatible with submerging in the water? Is salt water a problem for them? The axles on my trailer or 6000 pounds each and the circumference of the break is 12 inches. Are all electric trailer brakes Groves or can you get them in disc. Are electric brakes wired directly to the hub or is there a master cylinder pushes hydraulic fluid. Thank you

There is a way to actuate your hydraulic disc brakes electronically that will give you the power of hydraulic brakes and the flexibility and adjustability of electric brakes. What you'd need is an electric over hydraulic actuator. This installs on the tongue of your trailer and allows a brake controller installed in your tow vehicle to control the hydraulic pressure. This is the best all-around trailer braking solution.

Our most reliable/best kit is the Hydrastar # HS381-9067 which comes with the actuator and all of the needed electronics and connectors. Our installers here love this kit due to how well it works.
