Towing a 2017 Vanleigh Vilano 365RL with a 2015 GMC 2500HD Diesel

Question:

GVWR 16k- besides being close to max capacity with pin/tow weight, what concerns would you have in towing this 5thr with this rig? I dont want to go further in debt by getting a new truck such as upgrading to a 1 ton. I definitely dont want to drive a dually as a daily ride either. Do you think my 2500hd is just not enough truck for this Vilano? Please offer some advice/concerns/expectations.

From what I could find in an online manual it looks like your 2015 GMC Sierra 2500HD is rated for up to 18,000 lbs. You will want to verify this with your owner's manual to make sure that you can safely tow your trailer. Since the 2017 Vanleigh Vilano 365RL is rated for a GVWR of 16,000 lbs you will be able to safely pull it since you will have about 2,000 lbs of cushion. Again, be sure to refer to your owner's manual on towing and loading your truck when towing as well.

If you do not already have base rails or a 5th wheel hitch then I recommend installing the Reese Custom Base Rail Kit # RP50066-58 as it will be easier to install than the Universal Kit # RP30035 because of the custom, no-drill brackets.

To safely tow your Vilano 365RL I recommend going with the Reese M5 20K 5th Wheel hitch. This comes in a fixed version # RP30928 for an 8 foot bed. If you have a 6-1/2' bed then I recommend going with a sliding hitch like # C16541 to provide turning clearance.

Since you will be pulling a lot of weight with your 2500 you may also consider installing a transmission cooler as well. One of the most popular options that we have is made by Derale and is part # D13503.
