How To Determine the Correct Boat Trailer Jack Weight Capacity
Question:
Im looking to buy a new swivel jack for my 1984/single axel trailer for my Ski Nautique. The boat weighs 2350 pounds, not sure of the trailer weight. Would this be the correct jack to get?

A trailer jack onlys needs to be rated for the tongue weight (TW) of a trailer, not the entire gross trailer weight (GTW). With that being said, the tongue weight of a trailer is typically 10-15% of the gross trailer weight. Therefore your boat trailer will have to weigh more than 12,000 lbs without the boat in order for the weight capacity of the Fulton Bolt-Thru Swivel Marine Jack part # FXP15L to be exceeded.
As long as your boat trailer does not weigh more than 12,000 lbs and the frame of the trailer does not exceed 3" thick x 5" tall then this jack will work well for you. The jack has an 8" wheel and can raise the trailer up to 24-3/4".
I have attached a review video of this jack for you as well.
