Troubleshooting 4-Way Trailer Wiring on 32003 Pontiac Vibe
Question:
I have a 2003 Pontiac Vibe with a Curt 55057 circuit protector. The wiring installation was by a pro shop 15 years ago and worked well for years. The right turn signal does not work. Bulb good. Cannot find any wiring shorts or discontinuity. I would like to confirm the voltages out of the car side plug. With the ACC ignition position, the running light connector two brown has 0 volts, the yellow connector left signal has 0 volts, but, the green connector has 12 volts. This is with lights off. This doesnt seem right to me. Is it possible the circuit protector has failed? I have looked over all wiring for wear or mouse chewing and dont see bare wires. Any suggestion would be appreciated. PS the hitch I installed on our Escape was a snap with your video.

With the voltages being at 0 going into the unit, it sounds like there is either a bad fuse for those functions or the module has gone bad. If you check the wires going into the module with a circuit tester like # PTW2993 and get function, but don't get function on the output side, then that will confirm the module is bad. Since it has worked so well for so long, I recommend the replacement of the same Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 55057. This is an easy install with the hot lead already run.
