Recommended Husky Weight Distribution System to Tow a Trailer that Weighs 3,078 lbs Dry

Question:

Looking to purchase a weight distributing hitch to tow a light travel trailer. My hitch on my 2006 Porsche Cayenne S is rated at 6,000lbs TW of 617. Trailer is 3078 dry weight HW 420. Looking at Husky Centerline HT32217 or should I consider the 600lbs HW model? Thanks

When choosing a Weight Distribution (WD) system you will want to look for one that has a Tongue Weight (TW) range that the Total Tongue Weight (TTW) of your towing rig falls in the middle of. You can find your TTW by adding the TW of your fully loaded and ready-to-go trailer along with the weight of any cargo that sits behind the rear axle of your 2006 Porsche Cayenne S. Keep in mind that a properly loaded trailer will have a TW that is 10-15% of the weight of the loaded trailer.

With that being said, you will simply need to do a little math to determine if the 800-lb Husky WD # HT32217 or the 600-lb Husky WD # HT32216 will be better for your application.
