First, you will need the proper installation kit. I recommend a custom installation kit because they install in about half the time over a universal kit. or a kit that fits all models and trims of the 2008 Dodge Ram 2500 Mega Cab, I recommend the Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit, # C16420-204.

For a 5th wheel hitch, a lot depends on the weight of the trailer. For a 16k hitch, I recommend the Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch with Square Tube Slider, # RP30051. For a larger 20k hitch, I recommend the Reese 20k 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch and Square Tube Slider, # RP30084.
