Difference Between the Reese Custom and Outboard Installation Kits for a 2015 Ford F-250

Question:

I have 2015 F250 4x2 LB. You list 2 brackets: Reese 50026 and Reese 5016. The 50026 puts the king pin 3” in front of axle. The 50016 is 2” behind axle. Why the difference?

The Reese Kit # RP50026-58 is a custom fit and provides base rails that are industry standard while the Reese Kit # RP56016-53 is an outboard installation kit which is much easier to install but has a slightly different design. It is still compatible with industry standard 5th wheel hitches though so you will not have to worry about that.

Outboard installation kits are definitely the best option for installing base rails on your 2015 Ford F-250 as they as the easiest to install. Essentially they work the exact same way as the custom kit though so if you would rather go that way since it is a little more cost effective you will not be sacrificing quality.

Either way, I recommend also installing a 7-Way, like the Bargman # 50-97-410, in the bed of your F-250 if you don't already have one. This will make connecting and disconnecting your trailer much easier.

I have attached installation videos for all 3 products that you can reference.
