Cutting Down Andersen Camper Wheel Chock and Leveler for Small Gap Between Trailer Tires
Question:
It is said that only one of the two levelers needed on a two axle rig 26inch tire and two inch gap has to be cut shorter in order for the leveler to fit between the tires. My questions are: 1. When the short and long levelers are placed under the wheels, and wheels begin to roll onto them, wont one axle raise to a higher height first and then the other axle hang low ? The leveler that was cut 4inch shorter already has a 1inch rise from the start. 2. Should the other leveler be cut to match ? 3. Also, wont it be hard to fit the chock between the tires once the rig is raised theres a lot of plastic in that gap ?

I spoke with my contact at Andersen regarding the Camper Wheel Chock and Leveler # AM3604 referenced in your question. He did state that for trailers like yours that have minimal space between the tires, only one of the levelers will need to be cut down. As you mentioned, this will technically raise one axle to a higher height initially but this is not an issue and you will not notice any difference. He confirmed that they have had many customers do this and it is what they recommend. You do not need to cut down both levelers.
Once the trailer is raised, you also should not have any issue fitting the chock between the tires. I confirmed this as well with my contact, as they do see this quite often with the small space between dual axle tires and the chock will settle into place like normal.
If you have not yet cut down the leveler, I recommend doing so with a miter saw. We have found that this is the easiest and safest method.

Which end of the Anderson Levelers are you cutting off. By what you are saying it seems like the 1/2” end is the one you are cutting off. Would it not be better to cut off the 4” high end so that both axles are even? Or does that not matter?
