Recommended Tires for Trailer with 235-16 Size Range

Question:

Your Taskmaster Trailer tires.... 235-16 size range I do not see where they are made. I have yet to find a trailer tire not made in China and have had nothing but tire failures ever since they removed my LT tires I was running and installed TRAILER tires. Who is the mfg company? Discussed with the unreliable products..... Thank you

Taskmaster tires are made in China as are almost all trailer tires from any manufacturer. Taskmaster Components is the manufacturing company and they are headquartered in Texas.

Special Trailer (ST) are made differently than Light Truck (LT) tires, and need to be maintained differently so that may be the issue at hand. Trailer tires are designed to be run at max psi listed on the tire at all times and should be filled to that psi when cold (prior to a trip). They are designed to hold the rated load and have a speed rating of 65 mph max unless specified. Running them with too much weight, improper inflation, or too fast can all cause issues. The most prominent issues are overheating leading to failure based on one or more of these reasons. I've attached an article to further assist.

For your replacement tires, I recommend the Westlake ST235/80R16 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range E # LHWL401 made by Lions Head. This tire is rated for 3520 lbs at 80 psi and has a max speed rating of 75 mph. The really nice thing about these tires is not only the quality but that the manufacturer stands behind them with a 5 year warranty and 2 years of complimentary roadside assistance 24/7. This assistance is available in the US, Canada, and Puerto Rico.
