Will the Derale 16-Pass Electra-Cool Remote Cooler Part # D15800 Fit a 2010 GMC Yukon XL

Question:

On the D13700, it doesn't come with the in line fan control thermostat switch. So do I need the kit D13021 to have the in line switch? To stay with the -6 AN fittings

The Derale 16-Pass Electra-Cool Remote Cooler Assembly w/ Fan part # D15800 will physically fit on your 2010 GMC Yukon XL as long as you have 5-3/4" wide x 11-1/2 " tall x 5" deep of space to mount the cooler anywhere on the vehicle but the -8 AN x 1/2" diameter hose barb adapter fitting included in the kit will be overkill and will also not match up with the factory 3/8" diameter transmission fluid lines.

According to Derale, your Yukon has 3/8" diameter transmission lines therefore, I recommend using the Derale 16-Pass Electra-Cool Remote Cooler Assembly w/ Fan part # D13700. This transmission cooler is identical to the one you referenced for the exception of the -6 AN x 3/8" hose barb adapter fittings. This adapter fitting allows for the use of a 3/8" diameter rubber hose.

Correct, the Derale 16-Pass Electra-Cool Remote Cooler Assembly w/ Fan part # D13700 does not come with an inline fan controller thermostat. The inline fan controller thermostat will turn the cooling fan on or off based on the temperature of the transmission fluid. You can use the Derale In-Line Fan Control Thermostat with -6 AN Fittings part # D13021 in order to turn the fan on or off based on transmission fluid temperature which in this case is 180 degrees. When the transmission fluid temperature is below 165 degrees the fan will not operate and when the fluid is above 180 degrees the fan will automatically turn on until the fluid temperature is back down to 165 degrees. If you do not wish to have the fan turn on at desired temperatures then you can always run a toggle switch inside the cab or have it tied into a vehicle's existing electrical circuit. If you live in an environment with cooler temperatures, I recommend using the Derale Fluid Control Thermostat Kit part # D13011. Similar to the way the inline thermostatic fan switch operates, the cooler bypass will reroute the transmission fluid away from the transmission cooler until the temperatures reach a certain degree. By adding these two components to the Derale 16-Pass Electra-Cool, you will have a worry/hand free method of cooling the vehicle's transmission fluid, suitable for heavy duty towing or daily driving.
