Recommended Cargo Carrier and Ball Mount for Travel Trailer RV

Question:

I am looking for some of the things I would need to tow both a cargo carrier and a RV trailer. The attached are the things I think I might need. Can someone tell me if the parts are what I need? Also, if so, which will this carrier make sense given the geometry and weights? Thanks. 63153 Y62VR

For your trailer hitch receiver, I recommend the Curt Multipurpose Ball Mount with 2" Receiver for Bike Racks and Cargo Carriers - 7,500 lbs # D210 because this will allow you to tow a trailer as well as use an accessory. This ball mount will require you to attach your trailer and then add the bike rack or cargo carrier because you can't attach the accessory and have enough space to then connect your coupler to the hitch ball. I recommend using a hitch ball like # 63845 for a 2 inch diameter, # 19260 for 1-7/8 inch, or # 63847 for 2-5/16 inch. This will give you more capacity than # MT70066 so I recommend going with # D210.

In the question you referred to the 24x60 Pro Series Cargo Carrier for 2" Hitches - Steel - 500 lbs # 63153 was recommended because it has a shank rise of 2-1/2 inches that is about 5 inches out from the hitch pin hole of the receiver. This gives extra clearance.

The GearDeck 17 Enclosed Cargo Carrier for 2" hitches is a great choice for you. It is a very versatile carrier and the EXO system can be used with many other accessories. It is able to carry 100 lbs and will swing out of the way.
