Activating Power to a Trailer Brake Controller on a 2001 Chevy Silverado 2500

Question:

I read in a similar post about a link for this. 2001 chevy 2500 gas non-factory 7 pin connector. No pwer to the brake controller from the customer access box at the left foot. Fuses are installed. No brake light feed either there. Are there some other wires that need tobe installed in the underhood junction box?

You are correct, there are some connections that will need to be made under the hood of your 2001 Chevy Silverado 2500 in order to make the brake controller and possibly the 7-Way trailer connector fully functional. We actually have a detailed FAQ article covering the connections that need to be made. I have included a link to the article for you to view. You will want to look at Step 2 - Under the Hood.

Basically, you will remove the top cover of the power distribution box, the closest frame bracket after that, and then the lower cover. There will be a red and blue wire together next to the fuse block on the cab side. It is these wires that need to be connected on the power distribution block. After the connections are made, the brake controller will have power.
