For your 2016 Ford Focus, I recommend the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit # BX2663. These base plates are custom-fit for your vehicle and feature hidden reinforcements along with removable bracket arms. This will provide a nice, clean look when your Focus is not being towed.
I have attached the installation details that you can look over. Any local auto shop or mechanic should be able to handle the installation without issue.. I recommend using the attached installation details for reference when calling for estimates.
In order to flat tow your Ford Focus, you will also need a tow bar, safety cable set, tow bar wiring and a supplemental braking system (if you do not already have these).
Starting with the tow bar, I recommend the Blue Ox Alpha Tow Bar # BX7380. This tow bar is compatible with the above mentioned base plates and features a weight capacity of 6,500 pounds. This particular unit also includes safety cables so those will not need to be purchased separately.
Then for a lighting solution, I recommend the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267. This diode kit allows you to use the vehicle's tail lights and wiring system while preventing feedback to the RV. Once installed, the Focus will be able to accept the RV's tail, brake, and turn signal lights needed for flat towing.
For a supplemental braking system, I recommend the Blue Ox Patriot Portable Braking System # BLU37TR. This is a great proportional system that will physically press the brake pedal in your Focus at the same time and with the same intensity that you apply to it in your RV. You will just need to add the 12 Volt Outlet Kit # RM-9332 for proper operation.
Lastly, you likely will need a high-low adapter in order to keep the tow bar level. I have attached an article that explains how to choose the best one for your setup, along with a link that will take you to our available selection. I have also attached an article on flat towing that you might find helpful.
