Recommendation for a 5th Wheel Hitch to Fit a 2017 Ram 3500 w/ 8 Ft Bed and Factory Rail Kit

Question:

I am trying to decide which of two hitches would work the best in terms of providing the right height. I have a new 2017 RAM 3500 Laramie DRW with factory tow prep package. It has the crew cab with 8ft bed. I will be pulling a DRV Elite Suites 36foot that has a GVWR of 20K. To be safe I would like a system that can handle more than I am pulling so am focusing on those rated at 24K plus. I am trying to decide between the BandW BWRVK3600, which has a 17-19inch height and the Curt C16545-16021, which has a 13-17inch height. From what I read the RAM DRW will ride a little lower so I am thinking the BandW will be the better choice. Thoughts?

Between the two 5th wheel hitches that you referenced, I recommend the B&W hitch over the Curt hitch.

The B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch for the Ram Towing Prep Package, # BWRVK3600, is design to fit right into your Ram's factory pucks located in the truck's bed. The B&W hitch has a gross towing rate of 25,000 lbs and an adjustable hitch height between 17 to 19 inches.

What I like about the B&W hitch is the design of the hitch jaws. The 1 inch thick wrap around dual jaw will allow for a far better jaw-to-king pin connection then the Curt 5th Wheel Hitch, # C16545-16021. The B&W hitch's cam-action latching handle is simple to release and will help prevent binding when hooking up or unhooking you trailer.

I have attached a couple of videos on the B&W hitch for you to review.
