Recommended Cargo Carrier to Fit a 2007 Toyota Yaris With An 1-1/4 Inch Hitch

Question:

Hello- I am looking for a cargo basket to attach to the 1 1/4inch tow hitch have installed on my yaris. I was also toying with the idea of getting a roof rack for more storage for camping trips. Can you tell me the most affordable way to go about achieving this? I am interested in a cargo bag as well for the back part.

The cargo carrier I recommend for you 2007 Toyota Yaris is the Reese Cargo Carrier, # 63155. This carrier inside dimensions is 47 inches long x 20 inches wide. The carrier is made of sturdy steel and weighs only 44 lbs.

This carrier is rated for use with Class I trailer hitches and the carrier has a 300 lbs capacity. However, you will have to abide by the weight rating of the lowest rated component installed on your vehicle. The hitches we offer for the 2007 Yaris has a tongue weight of 200 lbs. So, if your hitch's tongue weight rating is 200 lbs, then that will be the max weight you will be able to carry, and this would include the 44 pound carrier, even though the carrier has limit is 300 lbs.

If by chance you have a Curt hitch installed, you will need to install a stabilization strap, like the # 18050, with the carrier. Curt requires the use of a strap to make non-trailer loads more secure and stable at the rear of the vehicle.
