Recommended Hitch Mounted Bike Rack for Recumbent and Standard Bike
Question:
Tried my Rans v-rex recumbent on a Yakama 2 timer and works. Want locking hook platform, for it and a standard bike. See Swagman Chinook and Thule double track has this, do the hooks go down as far on these? Thanks,

The Swagman Chinook 2-Bike Platform Rack # S64683 referenced in your question has a maximum wheelbase 2 inches longer than the Yakima TwoTimer you mentioned that worked with your recumbent bike. Like the Yakima rack, the Swagman Chinook features ratcheting, padded hooks that can move independently along the center mast to fit bikes of different sizes. With this in mind, as long as your Rans V-Rex Recumbent bike fit securely on the Yakima TwoTimer, it should work great on this rack as well. This rack can hold up to 2 bikes at 45 pounds each and includes both a bike and hitch lock to secure your investments.
The Thule Doubletrack Bike Rack that you also mentioned has a shorter wheelbase so it might not be the best option for your longer recumbent bike.
I have also attached a demonstration video on this bike rack so you can see all of its features in action.
Another option, if you already have the Yakima TwoTimer, is to simply add the Yakima Cable Lock # Y07233. This, along with the included hitch lock will give you locks for both the rack and the bikes. I have attached a video demonstration on the Yakima rack as well that you can check out.
Lastly, we do have bike racks available, such as the Swagman XC-Extended # S64650-EXT, that are specifically designed for recumbent bikes like yours. This rack has a maximum wheel base of 68 inches and includes two types of wheel hoops that will fit different bike lengths. The Anti-Rattle Hitch Lock and Cable # S64031 can be added to secure everything into place. I have included a video demonstration on this rack so you can better see how it differs from a standard rack.
