Question:

I will be towing a 14,000 rated trailer behind my 40 motorhome that is 25 long. The total GTW will be around 12,800 LB. My TW will be around 1200 LB. Which distribution hitch, with sway control do you recommend. The motorhome is a 350HP diesel pusher.

We have 3 options for you to choose from. I will list them below.

Strait-Line Weight Distribution w Sway Control, item # RP66130, up to 1500 lbs Tongue Weight
Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution System w Sway Control, item # BXW1500, up to 1500 lbs Tongue Weight
Reese Steadi-Flex Weight Distribution w Sway Control, item # RP66561, up to 1400 lbs Tongue Weight

I would select the option that you chose, Reese Steadi-Flex Weight Distribution w Sway Control, item # RP66561, if your trailer has surge brakes, as this is the only system that is compatible with surge brakes.

If your trailer has electric brakes I would select the Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution System, item # BXW1500, because it has easily adjustable sway control and easy to use chain brackets that make hookup very easy. There are also less parts to this system making it easier to install and use.

With any of these systems you will need a properly sized hitch ball with a 1/1/4 inch shank. The Tow Ready Ball, item # 63836, is a 2-5/16 inch ball capable of 14,000 pounds trailer weight, and the Curt Hitch Ball, item # 63840, is a 2- 5/16 inch ball capable of 20,000 pounds trailer weight.

I have included a couple of video installations for you to review and a link to some information on weight distribution that we have put together.
