Can 2017 Ram 2500 Short Bed with Ram Box Tow Fifth Wheel Trailer

Question:

Im just wondering what 5th wheel set up will work with a 2017 Ram 2500. 6.4inch bed with rambox and does not have the 5th wheel/gooseneck prep. Id like to trade our travel trailer in on a 5th wheel and I know Ill need a sidewinder. Also, do the sidewinders fit all the newer 5th wheels, year 2015 an up? I understand the pinbox model on the trailer will determine the sidewinder model I need. Thanks.

Not every pin box on the market has a Sidewinder pin box replacement available for it. So before you buy a fifth wheel trailer you'd want to verify that the pin box of it is compatible. You can check out the link I attached to see a chart (near the bottom) with all of the Sidewinder replacements available for the various pin boxes. Or, some trailers have Reese Revolution pin boxes installed on them already. The Reese Revolution and the Sidewinder are the same thing so you might see if anything you are considering has that.

For a rail kit you'll want to go with a custom install kit like the # RP50054-58 which is confirmed as a fit. This will minimize drilling and install time over a universal kit.

Then you'd want a stationary hitch like the Reese # RP30047.
