Brake Controller Recommendation for a 2017 GMC Sierra
Question:
How long is this harness in inches?

Brake controllers need just four wires, and because you made the very wise move of not getting the factory Integrated Trailer Brake Control (ITBC) on your 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 you can just plug an adapter into the harness you mentioned for installation.
The brake controllers I recommend you take a look at are the Prodigy P2 # 90885 or Prodigy P3 # 90195, each of which plugs in with Plug-In Wiring Adapter # 3016. The Prodigy brake controllers are similar; they are proportional controllers that apply your trailer's brakes with the same intensity as you press the brakes on your Sierra. Each of the controllers has three boost levels, continual diagnostic checks, and safeguards to prevent battery drain or shorts.
The Prodigy P3 # 90195 differs in that it has a customizable LCD display and brake settings which are you can store; the Prodigy P2 # 90885 does not have storable settings and comes with a digital, blue display. I've added links to review videos of each of these products for you to take a look at as well as a video showing how simple it is to use the wiring adapter.
