5th Wheel Trailer Hitch and Installation Kit Recommendations for a 2007 Dodge Ram 2500 Crew Cab

Question:

I have a 2007 1/2 Dodge 2500 crew cab and I was looking a the 16100 manual it shows using the L brackets but I dont see any wholes in the frame to bolt them to so when I have every thing in place can I just weld them? Or should it really be bolted. If I can weld it should I put a bead on each side and then weld in the wholes?

The Curt 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Installation Kit, # C16100, is a universal kit that will require drilling into the vehicle frame in order to install the brackets. I do not recommend welding the brackets as they are specifically designed to be bolted into place.

If the idea of drilling into the frame of your Ram does not sound like something you want to do, I recommend going with a custom installation kit that does not require drilling to install the brackets. You can use Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit, # C16420-204. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you to view.

The Curt rails are compatible with any of the 5th wheel hitches we carry that fit into above the bed rails. If you want to stick with all Curt parts, I recommend the E5 Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitch, # C16115, for a long bed. For a short bed, I recommend the E5 Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitch with Roller, # 16516. I have included a link to the installation details for the roller version for you to view.
