Replacement Dutton-Lainson Hand Winch Compatible with a Boat Lift and Wheel for a Handle

Question:

Hi... I think my present winch is starting to fail. I believe it might be a Dutton Lainson brake winch. It has a DL logo and the number on it is 204358C. Instead of a crank handle, the winch has a large circular wheel crank to make it easier to lift the boat. Can I use the wheel off my old winch and fasten it to this one?

That is definitely a boat lift winch you have and it is definitely made by Dutton-Lainson. They have several winches designed for boat lifts and those winches are compatible with the big wheel you have. These include the following:

Heavy Duty Brake Winch, 1-1/8" Drum - 1,500 lbs. # DL10770
Heavy Duty Brake Winch, 3-1/8" Drum - 3,500 lbs. # DL24844
Heavy Duty Brake Winch, 2-1/2" Drum - 1,500 lbs # DL14927
Heavy Duty Brake Winch, 1-1/8" Drum - 1,200 lbs. # DL10808
Heavy Duty Brake Winch, 1-5/16" Drum - 2,500 lbs # DL10786
Heavy Duty Brake Winch, 2-1/2" Drum - 1,200 lbs. # DL15801
Heavy Duty Brake Winch, 2-1/2" Drum - 2,500 lbs. # DL15850
Heavy Duty Brake Winch, 3-1/8" Drum - 2,500 lbs. # DL14958

All of these Dutton-Lainson DLB series winches will require the Dutton-Lainson Drill Drive Socket Adapter # DL6456 to be used with your wheel.

Winch # DL15721 is not a recommended winch for this application.
