Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2008 Toyota Tacoma with 5k Capacity
Question:
I drive a 2008 Tacoma v-6 double cab that does not have the tow package with it. I understand that the towing is at 3500 lbs. and this is what the manual says also. Ive been told that this is if I were to tow from the bumper. If I was to install a III hitch then I could tow up to 5000 lbs. and the tongue weight up to 500 lbs. Im confused as to what is safe towing. Is it safe to tow 5000 lbs. with the hitch install.

If your owners manual states you can tow up to 5,000 lbs with a Class III hitch installed the Draw Tite part # 75236 would be exactly what you need to tow more than 3,500 lbs.
This hitch can safely tow up to 5,000 lbs and as long as your owners manual says the same with a hitch like this installed you'd be good.
